In the Beginning
Christian Miss began in 2019 as an innovative pageant system with a purpose- created to give girls and young women a positive, faith-based alternative in the world of competition. But what started as a beautiful event quickly became something much deeper. From the beginning, it was clear: this wasn’t just about crowns and sashes, it was about calling.

The Shift
Not long after our first event, God spoke to our founder, Yvette Barnes, with a gentle, powerful and clear reminder: “Whatever bears My name must do what I’ve commissioned it to do. Now, go and make disciples.” That moment marked a divine turning point. Christian Miss shifted from being just a pageant into becoming an organization focused on helping young women grow in their faith, boldly live out their purpose, and become leaders who shine for Christ in every area of life. Today, we continue to celebrate girls outwardly while developing them inwardly through year-round discipleship, service, and leadership opportunities.

In a world where young women often struggle with self-worth, direction, and positive role models, our program fills a crucial gap by fostering personal growth in a nurturing environment of Christian sisters and mentors.

Our Response
Christian Miss is dedicated to empowering girls and young women, ages 4-26, to recognize their immutable value, maintain their God-given identity, and develop into confident, purpose-driven individuals. Through our programs- including development workshops, Bible studies, community service initiatives, the Tiny Temples Healthy Kids program, and events throughout the year- we provide these young women with the tools, mentorship, and community they need to navigate life’s challenges while staying true to their Christian values. ​​
CHRISTIAN MISS STATEMENT OF FAITH
At Christian Miss, we are committed to nurturing a community where faith is deepened, character is strengthened, and every young woman is empowered to shine the light of Christ in her sphere of influence (Matthew 5:14–16; Philippians 2:15). All board members, staff, volunteers, state directors, and participants must agree with our Statement of Faith.​
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, guiding us in faith and life (2 Timothy 3:16–17; Psalm 119:105). We believe in one God, existing as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19). God the Father is our loving Creator (Genesis 1:1; Psalm 100:3), and Jesus Christ, His Son, is our Savior who lived a sinless life (Hebrews 4:15), died and rose again to bring us salvation (1 Corinthians 15:3–4; Romans 10:9). Through faith in Jesus, we are forgiven, transformed, and adopted into God’s family (John 1:12; Ephesians 1:5).
The Holy Spirit empowers us to live for Christ, guiding us in truth and service (John 14:26; Acts 1:8). We are called to share His love and message with the world (Matthew 28:19–20; Romans 10:14–15). We are committed to living lives that reflect Christ’s love, growing in faith, and fulfilling our God-given purpose through compassion, service, and discipleship (Colossians 3:12–17; James 1:22).
Our mission is to guide young women toward discovering their true identity in Christ and walking confidently in their God-given purpose (1 Peter 2:9; Jeremiah 29:11). We believe that a relationship with Jesus Christ impacts not only our spiritual growth, but also our physical, emotional, and mental well-being (John 10:10; Philippians 4:7). Through community service, leadership development, and discipleship, we aim to equip young women with the tools they need to flourish in every area of life, grounded in biblical principles (Ephesians 4:11–13; Micah 6:8).
MEET OUR FOUNDER & PRESIDENT

Christian Miss began as a simple idea placed in the heart of Yvette Barnes in 2011, long before the first sash or stage light. At the time, Yvette was a devoted elementary school teacher, serving children in the classroom for 14 years. She also spent nearly a decade coaching her daughter and other young girls in pageantry, helping them grow in confidence, character, and grace— an experience that revealed her gifting for mentoring girls and speaking life into their potential.
In addition to her background in education and coaching, Yvette serves as the Prayer Ministry Leader at Hope Collective Church, a role that reflects her deep commitment to intercession, spiritual guidance, and nurturing the growth of others in their walks with Christ. Prayer has always been the foundation of her leadership and the source of every step God has led her to take.
In 2013, she launched the Inner Beauty Walk, a workshop and pageant designed to celebrate girls ages 3–14 for their gifts, abilities, and God-given worth. Witnessing each participant shine brighter affirmed the vision God was nurturing within her.
That vision became Christian Miss— initially a pageant system in 2019, and later transformed into a full ministry in 2024 after the Lord spoke clearly to Yvette:
“Whatever bears My name must do what I commissioned you to do, make disciples. Ministry must take place here.”

Today, Christian Miss equips girls and young women through Bible studies, development workshops, service and outreach opportunities, mentorship, and joyful celebrations that honor who they are becoming in Christ. Rooted in Matthew 5:16, the ministry teaches each participant to let her light shine and to use her gifts boldly for God’s glory.
Alongside leading Christian Miss, Yvette also owns CABI Designs, creating inspirational resources and items that support the ministry’s mission.
Yvette is blessed to share life with her husband Céon, their four wonderful children, Ivery, Brianna, CJ, and Austin, granddaughter Beverley, and their sweet pitty, Zoe.
THE TEAM
Our team is made up of passionate volunteers who serve in both ministry and event roles to bring the mission of Christian Miss to life. From mentoring girls to managing logistics, they are the heart behind everything we do. Whether they’re praying with a young participant, coordinating a local workshop, or helping produce our events , each team member plays a vital role in building a Christ-centered community. With servant hearts and steadfast commitment, they guide and support the next generation of young women- encouraging them to grow in faith, embrace their identity in Christ, and shine boldly for His glory.
